Las Vegas, Nevada

I've seen this place in so many TV shows, movies and especially in video games. It always struck me as an American marvel, a completely live (&"sinful") city in the middle of a barren desert. Walking through the famous landmarks is so surreal.

Viva Las Vegas.

End of a first post-secondary year in art.

Learned many valuable lessons in this program of Art Fundamentals at Sheridan college, some of which came at my expense. It was all worth it though and reflecting upon my decision to come here, I've mad the best choice -- so far.

VCA 2 waits in the wings.

But for now and the next two weeks: off to Cleveland, Ohio to see the Rock n' Roll Museum, then onto Cali...helllss yeeee...

Former NHL Player, Donald Brashear makes a successful debut in MMA last night...

Albeit a scrub opponent. Didn't see much technique, just a wild brawler with raw power. Hopefully his next opponent will be more legit so we can see what he's made of.

Golden Gate Bridge

Inspired by Reinard's post, I looked up Aokigohara to find some very disturbing pics and info in the forest. Apparantly its a place associated with Japanese myths and demons. And due to high wind resistance by the trees and lack of wildlife, it is eerily quiet.

So on wiki, this is apparantly the second most popular suicide site....the highest was... Golden Gate.... check this, taken from wiki:

"The Golden Gate Bridge is the most popular place to commit suicide in the entire world.[49] The deck is approximately 245 feet (75 m) above the water.[50] After a fall of approximately four seconds, jumpers hit the water at some 76 miles per hour (122 km/h). At such a speed water has been determined to take on properties similar to concrete.[citation needed] Because of this, most jumpers die on their immediate contact with the water. The few who survive the initial impact generally drown or die of hypothermia in the cold water."

All I gotta say is holy sh*t.

There is hope.

Another place in the top 10 list is Niagara Falls. I know it's kind of obvious but I didn't really expect it. 20-25 deaths anually, never gonna look at that place the same again.

Not a bad day :)

Got a lot of compliments from my life drawing instructor today, said I was on a good track and that I've improved a lot since the beginning of this journey. She had also requested me to bring in my hand study drawing which will be used as an example for the next batch of art fundamentals students. I felt very good after that, nice boost in confidence.

I really feel as if this is my called métie.

I thank God for all my talents and for helping me persevere and evolve thus far.

What the f*ck is this sh*t.

Leafninja.com reports:

Crazy news coming out of Japan today via AFJapan, due to the declining fan ratings of the Naruto series, Shonen Jump gave Naruto series author Masashi Kishimoto 10 chapters to wrap the series up. After declaring that he could not finish the series in such a short time frame, he spoke with the current Editor in Chief of the magazine. The two men got into a loud verbal disagreement, resulting in Kishimoto being escorted from the building by security. Just hours later, Shonen Jump released an official statement saying he’s no longer employed by the company:

On Friday we gave notice to Masashi Kishimoto that we would be terminating his employment with Shonen Jump magazines. Kishimoto leaves Shonen Jump after 12 years with the company. Due to a contract disgreement, Shonen Jump and Kishimoto have terminated their relationship. We appreciate his contributions to our organization and wish him all the best in his future endeavors. Shonen Jump’s Naruto will continue to run weekly with a scheduled end date in chapter 550.

Shonen Jump is happy to announce that through a joint promotion with Kodansha Limited, Blazer Drive mangaka Seishi Kishimoto will take over for his twin brother for the remaining issues. Naruto will go on a temporary hiatus to allow for the new artist team to settle in to the series and resolve existing plots using outlines and notes left by original series author Masashi Kishimoto. New series author Seishi Kishimoto has released the following statement: “To all the fans of the series, I’m sorry to see my brother go, but I will make him proud and give the series the ending it deserves! The story of Uzumaki Naruto is not over yet, you’ll love what final surprises there are in store for Naruto and his friends!”

Frankly this sounds horrible, at least they’ve given them 17 chapters to resolve the story rather than the 10 Masashi Kishimoto was originally limited to. I have to think the different final numbers (10 versus 17 chapters) comes from having to get a new team in place to finish things out or that the initial leaked news of only 10 was incorrect. It could also be that Kishimoto already has the next 7 chapters already drawn. I’m also not the biggest fan of Seishi Kishimoto, but at least his art style is similar enough to Masashi’s that it shouldn’t be too jolting a change.

40 kunai thrown »

Obviously an April fools stunt. Nice try Leafninja ;)

So Far (It has been a pleasure)

To all my friends out there, thankyou for the fun times we had thus far; you guys are the greatest friends a guy can ask for.

For reasons that will not be disclosed, I need to seclude myself from you guys, any online activty, hangouts etc. I have nothing against you guys, infact, to me you guys are like brothers.

I have personal issues that are present and need to be dealt with before I can treat everything like normal again.

I hope to see you sometime during the summer.....I hope.

Till then, adios, cheers, goodluck with your finals and enjoy life to its fullest.

The world has a countdown

We can never predict when and how much time we have till our planet perishes; but frequent natural disasters and our unpreparedness just goes to show you that we can be wiped out at any time and at any place. We tend to eschew the truth because we just like to worry about our own comfort now and what we want for ourselves now. You can debate forever trying to figure out whether or not we should plan ahead (way ahead) or respond as it is needed but the truth is out there and there's no escaping it.

The rule of the dinosaurs lasted for over 100+ million years. Think about that for a second. The human species has been only around for just 1 million years. Our stage in a species is still infantile . The true modernization of humans, the time when civilization came about, were only tens of thousands of years ago. Yet, we have already killed off 99% of our species that have existed since our species came to existance. Granted that some went extinct naturally as they were not able to adapt to natural changes but a lot of those species disapeared from the face of this planet due to our intervening.

I don't know why I'm especially caring today about our planets well being.

But remember this: The world has a countdown.

Nuclear meltdown and another earthquake (6.something, i forget, google it)

Japan, you can get through this.

I sincerely hope and pray for the best and that contamination doesnt fatally effect any people there and that it also doesn't spread through the food chain in the oceans.

At this point in time, you can never give out too much blandishment towards the Japan, they need allt he love and support they can get in this time of need.

Life can be sometimes ridikilus.

It just hit me yesterday the amount of work and dedication that it takes to be a professional artist. I knew all this before hand, but it's a lot different once it actually sinks in. I have to now live and breathe being an artist. Constantly drawing and constantly sharpening my skills and evolving as an artist.

This is what I dreamt about; this is what I thought was always amazing to do, drawing everyday nonstop. That dream is now a reality

Bring it.
