8th Return Home.

Been busy, sorry for the lack of posts. School and the new MMA blog.

GGH today was cool, the two guys were great to talk too. Age brings a lot of humility and wisdom.

The Office is extremely hilarious. Probably rivals Arrested Development. Too funny.

Judo orientation pushed back for next weekend....again. =/

Your Irrelevancy!

Wow, that was a lot of work.

There's new stuff up on my MMA blog. It was a lot of hardwork, but it's worth it to finally get this off my chest.

Take the time to check it, http://ulti-mma.blogspot.com/

Over and out,

Alan

Done pharmacology midterms

I can finally start blogging again. I've been working on essays, evaluations and review for the past 2 weeks!

I would usually talk about UFC 104, all I can say is that it was interesting. A much, much more detailed analysis of the fight will be on my MMA blog.

Relief at last..until finals anyways.

7th Return Home.

GGH was good today. Another good learning experience. Time flies by in there. Also passed my clinical midterm evals, which I'm ecstatic about. Other than that, it wasn't too irregular of a Friday.

Anywhoo, UFC 104 @ Josh's tomorrow. I can't wait. I be chillin' with my good friend Alvin tomorrow, it's been too long. I hope most of you other guys can make it.

7 weeks into school already.

Tedious Thursdays.

I got no school on Thursdays, as some of you may be aware of. This whole day was dedicated to drug research for my patient tomorrow. Fridays are quickly becoming repetitious. I should really start working on my PBL EIP paper.

That aside, what's with this news that Kanye West is dead? It's a pretty stupid rumor to start. According to here http://newsroom.mtv.com/2009/10/22/kanye-west-death-rumor/ he is not dead and some dead beat started it for fun. The world just seems as bored as I am.

Lolz at the gay fish. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yeb9jHbSmus

New Blog Soon.

I will be creating a second blog, dedicated to MMA. I don't like mixing it up with my personal blog anymore.

Look out for it and add,

What is a Phoenix?

"A phoenix is a mythical bird with a colorful plumage and a tail of gold and scarlet (or purple, blue, and green according to some legends). It has a 500 to 1,000 year life-cycle, near the end of which it builds itself a nest of myrrh twigs that then ignites; both nest and bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix or phoenix egg arises, reborn anew to live again. The new phoenix is destined to live as long as its old self. In some stories, the new phoenix embalms the ashes of its old self in an egg made of myrrh and deposits it in the Egyptian city of Heliopolis (sun city in Greek)."

So, a Phoenix can be reborn every time it dies. Metaphorically speaking, are humans capable of this? Or is it that when we die, we remain dead? I don't know. All I know is, for every dark cloud, there is a silver lining, for every one.

Isn't it nice to know the lining is silver?

The Matrix and The Exorcist

'
Damn....that guy is possessed fosho.
In reality, this was a nasty GNP KO on Renato Sobral by Gegard Mousasi

Damn, this is honestly like the Matrix. The way Anderon Silva dodges Forrest Griffin's hands are so skillful. He can do whatever he wants in the octagon.

Apologies. Apologies Everyone. Big update, now.

You may have noticed that I have not blogged for several days, or you may have not. In the past few weeks, I've been frequenting my blog posts. Looks like I broke my streak. I've been busy the past few days. So here's the junk that's been going on in my boring little life.

-I actually got home on Wednesday night, last week. Don't ask why. It involved an ID and name tag, that will be all.

-Alex Wong is all good now and recovering from his surgery.

-Friday morning was early...as usual. Got to the hospital and did my thang. It was a good Friday Hospital session.

-While waiting for my dad to pick me up, I explored Guelph. I ended up watching a movie at the local theater.

-I watched "Law Abiding Citizen" Twas and excellent film. Critics say otherwise, but f**k the critics. They don't know s**t. They're totally missing the point, calling Gerard Butler's character's actions farfetch'd and excessively violent. What the f**k? It's a movie for God's sakes and the message is the important part. Speaking of the message and the moral, it's well done and points out the flaws within the justice system and how true justice never exists. I believe the ending closes the whole thing well, a complete circle. Gerard Butler's point was actually proven then. One more note, this is the most bad ass Gerard Butler has ever been, since playing Leonidas in 300. Kudos to Jaime Foxx too for an excellent portrayal of a modern day justice guy (Lawyer).

8/10 Recommended

-Something's up with my 75 Gallon aquarium. That thing needs mad maintenance, like every week. Loss a Serpae Tetra, 1 Cory, 1 Rainbowfish and 1 Angelfish in the past 2 weeks alone. It sucks.

-My dog dug up the tree soil in the backyard. I thought Cloud was weird for not digging stuff up in the backyard. I wish he was weird now, there's soil everywhere.

- Got an Ipod Nano 5th Generation. The production of these things are so top notch. I couldn't avoid joining the Apple scene for any longer. I wanted to get a Zune at first but apprently they stopped selling them in Canada. Ipods taking over at a seriously frightening rate. Everything is Ipod compatible these days. Oh and it has a video camera and a good one at that. Constant frame rate and consistency, even in dark shots. I thought it would just be a gimmick add-in but once again Steve Jobbs found himself a billion dollar cheque to the bank.

-Stoked for the Saturday super UFC fight. UFC 104: Machida VS Rua. Oh man...it's gonna be off the chain. More on this on a separate Blogpost. You kids better come, Josh says you're invited =D

Well, that's about it, for now I think.

Wong @ the hospital.

Blog post title explains it all. Our good friend Alex Wong was admitted to the hospital last night. I got a text last night, but I didn't notice so I only noticed just now. Whatever it is, I hope he gets better soon.

Uneventful day.

So yea nothing much happened today. Other than that I slept from 8pm to 11pm. I have a strange sleeping pattern. My health is below the optimum, I really need to get up to code.

Also, I find it cool that this is still up:

Thanksgiving review.

Fairly good Thanksgiving for 2009. We had a thanksgiving dinner at a family friends (Dolor family) and came back the next day to celebrate Bianca and Tito Gody's birthday, lol. Note that there were no turkeys, gravy, cranberry, pumpkin pie or pudding involved. Josh, Kris and I could not beat Josh's little bro, "Machu" @ NBA 2K9. What a beast 7 year old player. He ran circles around us, literally.

4 day week, booya!

Epic Failz.

So I downloaded some Gundam 00 episodes, in 1080p HD (Blu-Ray rips) I can't run them smoothly. Sound gets cut off, delay in the video. Ugh. Need a better graphics card for my laptop.

Good morning to you too,

Alan

Tooooo rare.

Huh? Is the lead singer Chinese? Pop punk? Rock? I'm confused.

Woooooooooww,

5th Return Home.

Late post again, this should have been done last night.

Anywho,

Lots of stuff to talk about, Kinda.

Guelph yesterday was pretty sweet and rewarding. Learned lots of stuff. Totally surpassed my expectations.

Praying really helps. I kind of lost my path at one point in my life. But don't fall into the atheist hype. God is there and He listens.

As all of you know I got 2 South American Leaf fish. ! died and 1 is currently and hopefully thriving in my 75 gallon. The feeder guppies didn't get touched. So I put them in my dad's 5 gallon. They'll hopefully grow up to be very colourful. Cheap way of purchasing guppies is buying baby feeder guppies and raising them.

Got Cloud another muzzle and a cool water system. Better water monitoring and a less bitey dog.

I was thinking of getting another Gundam, but I'll save that for another time.

g2g forelz,

Alan

Ah Geez!

Did I mention waking up at 5 am sucks? Especially when your friggin room mates are so friggin drunk at 1 am? Because I do. I really do.

First PT tomorow.

Pretty nervous cuz I'm getting my first REAL patient tomorrow. We're going to be paried up so I think it will make it a bit easier. We will also be assigned an RN, I wonder if he/she will be nice.

On a side note, I went to Big Al's Kitchener today to buy these awesome fish:

The South American Leaf Fish is a very interesting and rare fish. It's the first time I've seen any here in Ontario. I had to grab them. I bought 2 at 9.99 each, they're tiny. I also got some feeders to feed them before I bring 'em home.

Short Documentary on these fish:

I should update on my 75 Gallon some time. I'll record one soon.

Can't wait till Thanks Giving Weekend,

Alan

Gund Cheridum HG 1/144 Complete

Wow, I haven't built a Gundam in 4 years. Fortunately my friends, Alvin and Reinard, were thoughtful enough to give me a Gundam for my present.

The total amount of time is about 5 hours. I didn't rush and I tried out outlining and it turned out pretty nice (I got lazy with the 2 hand guns). My best Gundam building session yet...out of 3.

Here are some pics (no real digicam for macro shots, so I stuck with my webcam...you wouldn't wanna see the nub marks anyways):

Check out my pro photo set.

What the F**K was that in the sky!

Can't roll like a gangsta without yo' gun sittin' sidewayz.

Thanks again Vinrei,

Alan

Finally caught up with Criminal Minds.

It took a whole month, but I'm finally caught up with all 5 seasons of Criminal Minds. This show has always intrigued me from when I saw it a couple of years ago. So I decided to finally sit down and watch it all. Let me tell ya, this show is excellent. There are a lot of people who do not like it still, but it's one of those shows that you get, or one that you don't. And I get this show.

It basically revolves around the F.B.I. and its Behavioural Analysis Unit. A unit comprised of 5 members known as profilers. These guys specialize in analyzing the way serial killers think. Notice that I say serial killer and not just a plain murderer. They take a deep look into the history, the crime scene and the victimology and they develop a suspect pool just from that. They look at the smallest details and they figure stuff out. It's pretty realistic. It's not like they have super psychic abilities and predict everything, they make mistakes. The suspect is known as the "Unknown Subject" or simply the "unsub".

This show, in my opinion, easily bests CSI. CSI focuses much on the science, but science can only prove stuff. The real CSI, of course, is not inferior as they do contribute to some of the aspects in criminal behaviour analysis, but the "profilers" really do a lot of the investigation. Criminal Minds focuses on the psyche of the criminals and how they think, thus being able to predict their next move. It's very interesting.

The format of the show is quite formulaic at times. Problem, analysis, search for suspect, suspect hits another victim, they catch the suspect before killing the victim. This does NOT ALWAYS happen though, mind you. And even in the formulaic layout of the show, each criminal is different and very interesting. The different motives, mentalities, mental afflictions, real references to real serial killers (at that point I research the serial killer). They also say an abundance of very insightful quotes from different prominent people from the present and as far back as biblical times.

This show is quite simply brilliant and so much different from other crime dramas. The insight into human psyche and the limits of what the human brain can do is easily addicting.

The pacing and direction are very well done. Old characters leave, new characters come. Continuous episodes (on going from previous episodes) I could compliment it all day. So just go and watch it.

I definitely recommend this show to anyone. It's awesome.

Current cast of Criminal Minds.
(L to R: SSA Dr. Spencer Reid, SSA Emily Prentiss, SSA Derek Morgan, SSA and BAU team leader Aaron "Hotch" Hotchner, SSA David Rossi, BAU team liaison Jennifer "J.J." Jeraux and FBI technical analyst Penelope Garcia)

Go watch Criminal Minds,

Dat PSTRIPLE Exclusive: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Really? Wow. I have not seen a game reviewed this high in a looong time since Gaylo 3. Who knew that this game would soar into these heights? I guess it's because the visuals are perfect, the presentation is stellar and the gameplay has improved.

So what are the ratings? So far..14 critics with an average of....9.6. I don' think I have ever seen Eurogamer give a game a 10/10. Eurogamer is generally strict with reviews. They even gave MGS4 only an 8/10. You know what's funny too? PSM3 magazine (France) gave it a 21/20.

GO DRAKE, GO!

This game must be the bee's knees,

4th Return home.

4 weeks since I started school... it's been a month already?

Anyways Guelph General was cool today. It's a very modern hospital. I'm looking forward to working there for real next week. (Not.)

Shara and her group were really nice to allow me to carpool with them.

Also, When there's one piece of pineapple on top of a panzarotti, you guys should know, that it's NOT a misplaced topping. It's a sign that it's actually a Hawaiian flavoured panzarotti with infinimillion pineapples. Ugh.

Gonna play L4D tonight with Alex and Mud like always.

toodles,

Alan

1 hour into Gundam Cheridum

And all I've done is this:

I swear, my hands aren't meant for these super small plastic pieces. I especially had a hard time with the head piece stickers. Also there WILL be plastic FORCE MARKS. I don't have the sophisticated tools to pro it up.

There's a reason why I never delve into the gundam building hobby and thats because I don't have the patience to create these things. I end up always leaving those ugly force marks on the plastic ends where I pull 'em off the casing. The gift is much appreciated though, rest assured.

Thanks again Alvin and Rei,

Alan

Note to self. 30 micrograms = 0.03 milligrams.

Dang it, gonna have to retake the medication quiz...again!

Arghh,

Alan
